I'm often asked how I became involved in the web development industry, and I am always happy to take a few moments to tell people about myself and how SML Design, LLC came to be.
Most of my life I have always enjoyed creating art in some fashion or another. All throughout school I made it a point to take as many art classes as my schedule allowed, and in later years, I majored in Art. In the early 1990's, I had a wonderful opportunity to work for a printing company which allowed me to express my artistic creativity. It was also around this time which I was introduced to computer graphics. Having worked with different art mediums over the years, computer art instantly grabbed my attention. Needless to say, I quickly fell in love with the work I was doing, thus beginning my journey to educate myself further in the computer graphic arts field. I began producing small projects such as business cards, letterheads, brochures, and slowly moved to more involved works. One of which allowed me the opportunity to assist with a new project. This time it was a web development project. At the time web development was quite new and very few people offered such services. It was while working on this project that I knew I wanted to make computer graphic arts and web development my career. And so, with the support and encouragement from my husband Bill, SML Design, LLC was born.
